You need to know what helped decide why these dog friendly tents were chosen in the first place.

Here is what went into the deciding factors of choosing what would make the best tents for dogs and their owners.:

  1. Quality of the material the tent is made from.
  2. The strength the tent has for withstanding dog’s ability to

#1. Coleman WeatherMaster 6-Person Tent with Screen Room

This Coleman tent is an excellent choice for large or small families and their pets. They have some of the best tents for camping with dogs because of their large space, strong floor, big windows, and Coleman’s weather tec system ( you can read about it here) Also, the fact that it has a hinged door for a quick in and out with your dog is one of my favorite features in this tent.

#2 Pacific Pass 6 Person Dome Tent w/ Removable Rain Fly and Screen Room, Water Resistant

This six-person tent is ideal for big dogs and their families or two adults with a dog who just want more room to move around inside the tent. What I love about it is… its durability, air ventilation, and the fact that it has an extra screened-in area that could give you an extra sense of security that would help prevent your pet from getting out of the tent unexpectedly.

#5 CAMPROS Tent-8-Person-Camping-Tents, Waterproof Windproof Family Tent, 5 Large Mesh Windows, Double Layer, Divided Curtain for Separated Room, Portable with Carry Bag

If your looking for a lightweight tent that is easy to set up then this is another good choice for dog owners who are camping with a dog in tent. This tent has a big sleeping area and can be separated into two rooms you can use one as a dog room if you wanted to. Also, it has a lot of windows for fresh air to go through the tent. The only thing it doesn’t have is the extra screened room but I still think it’s a good tent for dogs.

Dogs In Tents Most Asked Questions:

Do Dogs Like Tents?

Honestly, it will depend on your individual dog.

Unfortunately, some dogs are more nervous about unknown surroundings than others.

So, my best advice would be to test and see…You can do that by setting up a tent at home first and doing a little training with your dog to get them used to going in and out of it.

Just like you would with crate training.

Thankfully, once your dog is familiar with the tent, most dogs will be OK.

But, if you find that your dog is truly scared after you tried training them then maybe it would be better for them to stay home with a pet sitter.

As dog owners, we need to put their health first you wouldn’t want to cause your pup any anxiety.

How do you camp in a tent with a dog?

As mentioned in the article above, sometimes camping in a tent with a dog could be challenging, but however, it can be done without stressing over it.

Most importantly:

You’ll want to make sure to have the proper camping gear to make your trip go smoothly.

It all starts by ensuring you have a reliable tent that your dog will be safe in during your trip.

Also, It would be a good idea to bring some of their favorite things such as a bed, blanket, and toys that can go inside the tent with them this will help make them feel at ease inside the tent.

Can Dogs sleep in tents?

Yes, most definitely dogs can sleep in tents.

As long as your pet is comfortable with it and their owners are right there with them, they will adjust to sleeping in a tent in no time.

Pro Tip: Never leave your pup unsupervised inside a tent, as this could make some dogs nervous and feel like they are trapped.

Where do dogs sleep in tents?

Even though dogs can sleep in a number of different spots inside your tent.

It would however depend on the size of your tent.

If your dog is anything like mine for example most likely, your pup would want to be sleeping right next to you.

But if not… perhaps your dog enjoys having their own space, then I love the idea of putting a crate inside the tent, usually in the back corner, so it’s not in anyone’s way of moving around the tent.

Or you can bring their favorite dog bed and lay it next to where you are sleeping.

Another idea would be for your pup to have their own personal dog tent or teepee dog tent placed inside the tent.

I personally prefer my dog to be inside of a crate or inside their own zipped personal dog tent for some extra safety when we are sleeping at night.

How can I protect my tent from my dog?

Firstly, the best way to protect your tent from your dog is by starting with one of the above strong and reliable tents, but let’s face it, we certainly know nothing is perfect in life.

Secondly, you can take some extra steps of your own by adding a few of these protective measures inside your tent.

Such as:

  • Adding a protective flooring inside the tent
  • Placing a baby/pet gate near the mesh openings
  • Having a crate inside the tent for sleep
  • Keep your dog’s nails short to prevent them from catching on the material
